I wanted to draw something foreign and initially frightening in a little fish environment. Just like when they move into a new tank, the fish would first be uncomfortable, then curious -and eventually they would get used to the new environment altogether and (in the case of cichlids) start burrowing. The girl had been passive (or dead) for so long, that she had just blended in perfectly to the surroundings.
